Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Stop-N-Stor office hours?  Monday – Thursday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Friday 10:00 am – 6:00 pm, and Saturday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.  Additional hours are available by appointment.

When can I access my storage unit?  Our computerized gate system allows access to units as often as you like from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm every day.  Extended hours may be available if necessary.

How can I save money?  Once you know which items you will move into storage, visit the storage site.  Take a few minutes to look at several different sized storage units and decide how much space you really need to rent.  Looking inside the units helps people to visualize how they can organize their items.  The ceiling height is about 8.5 feet, which gives lots of room for stacking items.  The less floor space you need, the lower the rental rate.  Additionally, there are no hidden fees and no long-term contracts to sign.  Rental agreements are month-to-month, and your first and last months’ rent may be prorated, which means that you pay only for the days you use the unit!

What type of security features are offered?  Stop-N-Stor offers perimeter fencing, lighted driveways, computerized gate access, individual door monitors, video surveillance, and resident managers.  Features may vary among locations, and the manager can review a site’s features when you visit.

How are the storage buildings constructed?  Our storage buildings are designed to keep the elements out and to allow for good ventilation.  They are built of concrete block, and coated with a special paint which waterproofs the walls from the outside but allows moisture to escape from the inside.  The ceilings are drywall and the attics are vented.  Partitions between units go from the floor to the ceiling, allowing privacy of each unit.  The buildings have concrete floors which are raised above the driveway level, and the concrete drives are sloped away from the buildings so water runs away from the buildings.

Do you rent moving trucks?  Yes, Stop-N-Stor has trucks available for our customers to use when moving in and out of our Lorain, Elyria, Toledo, Oregon, and Northwood locations.

Do you offer temperature controlled units?  Yes, temperature controlled units in a variety of sizes are available at the Stop-N-Stor located in Northwood, Ohio.

Can I store a vehicle?  Yes, if it is in running condition.  Many customers store different kinds of vehicles with us.  Vehicles may be stored inside storage units at all of our Stop-N-Stor locations.  In addition, outside parking spaces are offered at our Lorain, Elyria, Toledo and Northwood locations.  If you wish to store a vehicle that carries title, please bring a copy of the title to show proof of ownership upon rental.  The owner of the vehicle must be the person to sign the rental agreement.

Will my items be insured?  Although insurance is not required, it is highly recommended.  Stop-N-Stor does not provide insurance for customers’ stored items.  However, if you do not have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance to cover your items in storage, you may choose to insure your items with Mini Co.  Brochures are available in the office.  If you choose not to obtain insurance, your items will be self-insured.

How do I rent a unit?  One of our professional, friendly managers will be happy to assist you.  Bring your photo id and payment to one of our convenient locations, choose the appropriate unit size and sign up.  It’s that easy!  Upon registration, you will choose your personal gate code so that you may have access to move in at your convenience.

Do I provide my own padlock?  Yes, you are required to provide your own padlock for your storage unit door.  This ensures that you have control of your keys to your lock.  If you do not already have a lock, they are for sale (along with boxes and packing supplies) in our offices.   The locks we sell come blister-packed, again ensuring that your keys are packaged inside.

What forms of payment are accepted?  Stop-N-Stor accepts cash, checks, money orders, debit cards, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.  You may also sign up for the convenience of having your credit card charged automatically each month.

When is my rent due?  All rents are typically due on the first of each month, with a week’s grace period to make your payment on time.  You may make advance payments at any time, and a discount may apply if you pay 6 or 12 months at a time.

Can a friend access my storage unit for me?  Yes, anyone who knows your gate access code and has the key to your lock may have access to your unit.  If you wish to change your personal gate code, simply stop in during office hours and speak with the manager.

Are you able to accept deliveries on my behalf?  Yes, authorization forms are available for you to sign to allow managers and/or delivery personnel to put packages into your storage unit.

Do you provide a dumpster for unwanted items?  No, there is not a dumpster available onsite.  Customers are responsible for removing all items from the storage unit upon termination.  We encourage customers to discard unwanted items prior to renting the storage unit.  Why pay for a larger unit than necessary to store unwanted items?

How do I terminate my storage unit rental?   Simply give the resident manager 15-days’ written notice that you will be terminating your rental agreement.  Then remove all of your items from the unit, close the door, and take your lock with you.
